Variegation in plants is a probabilistic event. Offspring from a variegated parent have a probability of showing variegation that is over a thousand times higher than in natural mutations, but it does not guarantee that every seedling will not revert to its original, non-variegated form.
Variegation can be a deleterious mutation for plant, therefore some colorful seedlings may be more vulnerable to stresses than normal plant.
